Accommodation consists of Jacis Tree Lodge and Jacis Safari Lodge and two exclusive family suites namely the Safari Suite and Nare Suite&emdash; each with their own guides and game drive vehicles.
Jaci's Tree Lodge is high above the ground - built on wooden stilts. This treetop safari experience consists of eight tree house rooms connected by wooden walkways. It has views out across the Groot Marico River.
Each room has a king sized bed, a stone bath and outdoor shower. The tree houses blend into the surrounding tree canopy. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, fans and heaters, to ensure your comfort throughout the year. Each room also has a large balcony, an ideal spot from which to watch the birds in the surrounding tree canopy. The dining area is in the main lodge where brunch or high tea is served. Dinners are usually around a fire under the African stars – weather permitting. Tree Lodge guests have access to a swimming pool surrounded by comfortable loungers, perfect for relaxing on after a refreshing swim.
Jaci's Safari Lodge is situated in the Madikwe Game Reserve on the edge of the Marico River. The lodge consists of eight luxury rooms, each with a large mosaic bath (big enough for two to share), outdoor "bush" shower and private deck. The main lounge where brunch and high tea are served has views across a small stream. There is a loft bar for those in need of a little refreshment after a long day of game viewing. The main lounge has a large fireplace and a circular fire pit where guests can relax and warm themselves on cool evenings.
The rooms have under-floor heating which is great for those cool winter months and it also has air-conditioning as well as a ceiling fan to keep guests cool during hot summer days. With thatch roofs, low stone walls and canvas panels that roll up, the spacious rooms really let the outside in, making for a unique African safari experience from the comfort of your bed. The rooms are doubles; however stretcher beds can be set up in the rooms for families with children if requested.
Guests at Jaci's have the use of two swimming pools. A small plunge pool situated near to the main lodge makes for a refreshing dip after an afternoon game drive, while the larger pool, surrounded by lush green grass, is the perfect place to both cool off and soak up the warm African sun.
The two exclusive family suites namely Safari Suite and Nare Suite, each has their own guides and game drive vehicles. At night you can choose to dine with other guests in the main diningroom or have your own private dinner.
Guests staying at the Safari Suite have their own private splash pool, flanked by a deck and loungers on which to soak up the sunshine, as well as a small lounge in which to relax after a long day in the bush. This suite can sleep up to four adults and four children, and includes all the features of Jaci's Safari Lodge.
The Nare Suite is an exclusive bush retreat, with a waterhole at the front and can accommodate up to six guests. The suite comes equipped with open plan bathrooms, a handmade rock bath and outdoor safari shower. It has a wooden viewing deck which overlooks the waterhole. The upstairs loft with its own toilet is ideal for children. In addition, the lounge and outdoor dining area is equipped with a self-contained kitchen, where our chefs can prepare meals for you in privacy, should you so desire.
Check-in is at 14:00. Should guests arriving earlier & require lunch &emdash; please note that this has to be pre-booked, at an additional cost per person, and is served between 13:00 to 14:00. The first meal included in the package is high tea which is served at approximately 15:30.
Bottled mineral water is excluded from rate, due to the fact that Jaci's has pure, safe, drinkable borehole water which is supplied through our taps, and ice cold water is provided in the guests rooms. By not supplying unnecessary bottled water, we are minimizing the lodges' carbon footprint. If guests however insist on having mineral water due to personal preference, this is available and can be purchased from the bar.
Children of all ages are welcome at Jaci's and are especially catered for. Being in a malaria free area, Madikwe is well suited for children.
There is a special "jungle drive" for children four years and younger.
This is an educational and informative drive to keep the younger children engaged- offered at an additional cost.
Jaci's family safari drives have evolved from the specialized children's safaris. Family safari vehicles are only available at Jaci's Safari Lodge – this is presented to get parents with children aged 5 – 12 years together on the game drives.
For further children's entertainment there is a games room, and swimming pools.
At extra cost child minders can be arranged for the younger children aged 4 years and under, during game drive times and evening dinner to allow parents an "adult" evening meal.
Jaci's chefs cater to your child's likes and dislikes, menus typically include firm favourites like spaghetti bolognaise, hot dogs, chips, home-made hamburgers as well as vegetables and salads.
For all children 12 years and younger sharing with their parents, an earlier evening “children's” meal is provided in the dining room just after the evening game drive, as they are not allowed into the boma for the evening meals.
The evening meal in the boma (weather permitting) is an adult affair and children 12 years and younger will enjoy dinner in the dining room.
All children in their own rooms paying adult rates are welcome to eat with the adults at night. Brunch is served to the family.
The special children's rate is for children 12 years and younger sharing a room with their parents.
Children 0 - 4 years old stay free!
While Jaci's are fenced off from the Reserve, it is still the responsibility of the parents to be mindful of potential dangers at all times, as the lodges are situated in a Big Five wildlife area.
At Jaci's, the chefs are dedicated to preparing fresh, wholesome and tasty dishes. Menus feature fresh, seasonal South African produce and meats, meal schedules are flexible, typically tailored around your game drives.
A small watering hole and wetland area which attracts a wealth of wildlife are a short walk from Jaci's Tree Lodge. A small hide is on the banks of this watering hole in which guests can quietly
observe the animals and birds. On top of the hide there is a four-poster bed
and guests can enjoy a night out in the wild to experience game at night-time
from a special vantage point.
There is a small on-site gym with a treadmill and exercise bike amongst others. A play area is attached to the gym, in which children can keep occupied while you work out.
Safari game drives take place when the likelihood of sightings is at its highest - early morning and late afternoon.

Jaci's is excited to offer specialised guided walking safaris in Madikwe. With our walking-trails qualified guides you can enjoy a three to four-hour walk through the Madikwe bushveld. You will be walking in Big Five/Top Ten territory, so if you are really lucky you might encounter some of the larger mammals while on foot. But normally you can get closer to them when on a vehicle. We recommend a reasonable level of fitness as walks could vary between 5km and 10km over the three to four hours. Children 0 - 15 years are not allowed to walk in Madikwe. A medical fitness certificate is required for those over 60 and anyone with a pre-existing medical condition.
